Fly line, after time, will accumulate gunk from the different bodies of water you use it on and become less and less effective. You'll notice it won't shoot out of your guides easily and you'll have a hard time controlling it. This means it's dirty! Take a bucket with dish soap and another with clean water, soak the line in the soap bucket and run it through a cotton cloth or old shirt to get the gunk off, then rinse it in the fresh water bucket. Make your line last!
