It's a giant pain to break down your rod when you're traveling from one hole to the next; rig up a rod holder for the inside of your car. It will save you time and keep your rod safe. I installed a hook in the cargo compartment of my Subaru that holds the butt of the rod and the mid-section and tip are held by the seats. You can also purchase rod holders that attatch to the hood and the roof of your car. If no other cheap alternative is available, it's worth the money.
