From Blake at Gig Harbor Fly Shop:
Fishing is really starting to pick up around here. Lakes around Gig Harbor are fishing great. Gus and I fished a lake on the Key Peninsula last week and hooked more trout than we can count in the 3.5 hours we fished. Stop by the shop for the scoop on the
local lakes and what is fishing well.
Sea-run Cutthroat fishing in Puget Sound has really picked up and Gary and Chris posted a report on the blog yesterday of their outing this week. They caught some really nice fish on sea-run buggers. We have some very cool new saltwater patterns we have come up with now in the shop.
Summer steelhead fishing is starting up and there's fish in the Columbia tributaries like the Kalama and Cowlitz. There's definitely enough fish around to make a trip worth it!
High elevation lakes, for the most part, are still inaccessible, but if you ask nicely Gary will point you to a couple early season lakes that are already open and fishing.
The Yakima River has been fishing very well, Gary was over there last week and hooked his largest fish on the Yakima to date. Caddis have been coming off strongly and if you hit the hatch right dry fly fishing is incredible.
After the first Saturday of June there will be a lot more streams open to fishing.
