Normally I would have avoided the throngs of crazy shoppers gunning people down and trampling store employees, however I had run out of beads for my next batch of flys. Luckily my wife decided it was time for her to buy a sewing machine due to the great buys during the post-thanksgiving stimulus package (why is it called Black Friday?) - read: trip to the craft store! jost dudes hate this time of the month(ha), I try to find the silver lining.
And find it I did, I bought over 400 beads in three different types for about $10 total. Not bad. Also bought some great nymph body type material that will turn out some good looking ribbing and other assorted materials. All for under $14, plus a few weird/dirty looks from old ladies wondering what some guy was doing in the beading section of their craft store. Whatevs.
Sometimes you just gotta go to the less-than-cool places to get the job done.
I spent another coupla hours at Teal Lake; brought three great looking rainbow trout to hand, all in the 14" to 16" range. The water temps are dropping and the fish are showing it. The fight was lacking, however I had the lake all to myself for the morning and by the time I left, there were only three of us bobbing around out there. A little rain, a bit of wind and lots of quiet time.
Another great day to be thankful for.
